Nominations

District leaders are chosen through a process Toastmasters International sets, and it runs the same way in every district. Here is how a name reaches the ballot.

Key dates

Nominations open on November 2, 2026.

Nominations close on February 26, 2027.

The District Leadership Committee

The District Leadership Committee evaluates every candidate for an elected district office and nominates the best of them. Each division in the district is represented on it, and the District Director, Program Quality Director and Club Growth Director may not serve. Its deliberations and its votes are confidential.

The offices being filled

The committee nominates at least one candidate for District Director, at least one for Program Quality Director, two or more for Club Growth Director, and at least one for every other elective district office. Each office carries service requirements a candidate has to meet at the time of taking office; the committee verifies them, and nobody can be nominated until they are met. Toastmasters publishes the full list.

Putting a name forward

Nominating someone — or yourself — starts with Toastmasters’ District Leader Nominating Form. Send it to the address below. Before they can be nominated or elected, candidates for District Director, Program Quality Director, Club Growth Director and Division Director must also sign the District Leader Agreement and Release Statement and submit a completed Candidate Biography Form and a photograph.

The committee’s report

The committee chair reports its results in writing to the District Director no fewer than six weeks before the district’s annual business meeting. The District Director then sends that report, with each candidate’s biography, to the district council at least four weeks before the meeting, and the report is posted on the district website. Only candidates the committee nominated appear in it.

Candidates from the floor

Further qualified candidates may be nominated from the floor at the annual business meeting, provided they have been through the committee’s evaluation process. A district may not publish the names of floor candidates with the committee’s report, or in any other district publication.

Forms and documents

These documents are published by Toastmasters International in English only.
